Psychosocial aspects of infertility
The
Health Psychology Research Center is conducting on-going work on
the research project "Discourses and experiences of infertility in
Bulgaria". The study has expanded internationally and
currently includes a collaboration with colleagues in Romania, Greece
and the US. It is funded by a grant from the Society for the
Psychological Study of Social Issues.

Health
behaviors and health awareness among college students
The Health
Psychology Research Center is conducting a study on "Health
Behaviors and Health Awareness among College Students" as part of
an international comparative study which includes 21 countries in
Europe. The project is sponsored by St. George's Hospital Medical
School, University of London.

Health
systems and psychosocial aspects of cervical cancer screening in
Bulgaria and Romania
The
study is in being conducted in collaboration with the Institute of
Psychology at the Bulgarian Academy of Science and Babes-Bolyai
University, Cluj, Romania
and EngenderHealth, USA. It includes
a nationally
representative survey with women, as well as in-depth interviews with medical providers
and women. The purpose is to determine the
availability of screening procedures, as well women's attitudes and
perceptions of risk and barriers to screening. The
study is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through the
Alliance for Cervical Cancer Prevention. More

Health
behaviors in school-aged children
Our
team, including colleagues from the Health Psychology Research Center, the
Institute of Psychology at the Bulgarian Academy of Science and Babes-Bolyai
University, Cluj, Romania, has
joined the Health Behavior in School-aged Children (HBSC) Network (www.hbsc.org).
This is a unique cross-national research study conducted in
collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe. It is a research
project that aims to gain new insight and increased understanding of
health behavior, lifestyles and their context in young people. The Study
also aims to inform and influence health promotion and health education
policy, programs and practice aimed at school-aged children at the
national and international levels.
